My Path to Pawsitive Trails

Animals have been among my greatest teachers, companions, and healers. They’ve shaped who I am, filled my life with joy and depth, and inspired me to dedicate my work to honoring the powerful love we share with them.

The Spark Toward More Holistic Health Choices

My journey began with Bosworth (my soul-companion Boxer) when he was just six months old and facing constant health issues. In 2004, a pivotal moment occurred in a vet's back office where I saw a huge chart detailing sales goals for vaccinations, medications, and prescription foods. That was appalling to me. I realized I had to figure out his health issues myself, which led me to obsessively research natural nutrition and integrative care. That choice changed everything, allowing him to live a long, vibrant life of nearly 13 years.

The Call to Compassionate Support

While I spent many years in corporate America, I always felt a pull toward a deeper purpose. It was my own animal companions who ultimately led me to this work. My journeys through end-of-life with Bosworth and Buttercup, and the enormous grief that followed each of them, profoundly shaped my path, making it clear what my true purpose was meant to be.

Through those heartaches and difficult end-of-life journeys, I often felt profoundly alone, because I didn't know how to express the deep pain in my heart. Our society doesn't honor this grief the way it deserves, and I didn't know how to lean on others. Animals touch parts of our hearts and brains in ways human relationships often cannot, filling the unique nooks and crannies of our lives. When they are physically gone, those voids and painful reminders deserve to be held in love, understood, and honored. The grief we feel when our beloved family members are no longer by our side deserves to be witnessed and held in deep reverence, and it is my heart's desire to help support as many people as possible on their path.

Alongside these experiences, I bring a unique blend of lived experience, specialized mentorship, and formal coursework in grief and end-of-life support for animals and their people, allowing me to walk beside others with both compassion and expertise. I was fortunate to have a dear friend who was a guiding light to me, providing loving support through every stage with Bosworth and Buttercup. Her unwavering care made me realize how many people navigate these sacred, tender times alone and don't know where to turn. This profound realization, that everyone deserves specialized support to make their journey as held in love, supported, and guided toward grace and ease as possible, was the final inspiration that gave birth to Pawsitive Trails and my heartfelt mission.

My Expertise and Experience

My expertise is built on a unique blend of formal study, specialized mentorship, and holistic knowledge.

Grief and End-of-Life Support

  • Specialized Training in Guidance and Grief Support for Animal Lovers: I draw on formal coursework and years of practice (professionally since 2020) to provide empathetic guidance when you need it most. I am a dedicated member of the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB).
  • Foundation in Counseling: My studies in Counseling, with a focus on Addictions, gave me an early foundation in understanding human emotion, healing, and resilience. (Please note: I am not a Mental Health Professional and cannot treat or diagnose.)
  • Deep Mentorship: Since 2017, I’ve had the privilege of assisting and collaborating with Terri O’Hara, a renowned Animal Communicator with over 30 years of experience. In addition to learning from her expertise, I work closely with her to support her clients and their animals during the final stage of life. After several years of collaboration, I began a year-long mentorship with Terri, which deepened my understanding of the animal’s perspective on end-of-life and how to best guide and support their human companions through this tender time.

Holistic Wellness & Nutrition

  • Foundational Knowledge: As a Certified Professional Canine Nutritionist through the Feed Real Institute, I bring both formal training and over 22 years of dedicated research in natural nutrition. Since 2004, I’ve been feeding my own animals fresh, species-appropriate diets while continually studying how real food helps them truly flourish.
  • Practical Experience & Collaboration: For decades, I’ve also benefited from learning from and working with holistic and integrative veterinarians, which deepened my understanding of whole-animal wellness.

Philosophy & Approach

I believe the love we share with our animal companions is one of life’s greatest gifts, with the power to heal and sustain us. I operate from the belief that this is a sacred co-relationship: Our companions give us their profound, unconditional love and presence every single day, and we owe them our dedicated advocacy, support, and nurture.

My unique background, specialized training, and deep love for animals shape everything I do, empowering you to make confident, informed choices around nutrition, lifestyle, and care that support long-term vitality, strengthen your connection, and guide you through every stage of your journey, including the most tender.

You are supported every step of the way.

Today, I share my life with my beloved Boxer, Bindi Sky Walker, while holding close the memories and love of Bosworth and Buttercup, my two soul-companions who continue to inspire me. Their presence, along with the animals and humans I’ve been honored to serve, keeps me rooted in my mission:

To Nurture Your Journey and Honor Your Love.
